A Day at the Zoo
A family day out can bring photographic opportunities, but non are quite like a trip to the zoo.
With animals from all over the world you can be photographing an Asian Elephant one minute, then the next a Zebra from Africa. Not only can you see and photograph dozens of different animals from around the world you can do it all for the price of admission, which as a charity, Chester Zoo relys on the donations they receive through admission.
Unlike photographing animals in the wild, you know where they are going to be and usually what time they will be fed, but you will still have to do a bit of waiting as the animals are in enclosures as close to their natural habitat as possible, so they may be hidden from view.
As easy as zoos make it to view thier animals, there are still two main problems with taking photos at the Zoo, first is the enclosures, to be more exact, the fences surround them. Obviously these fences are to stop the animals escaping and not all enclosures have them, but those that do usually have viewing areas which are thick glass, which brings me to the second problem I found, Crowds. Like all good attractions, they draw in the crowds of people getting in your way.
Taking Photos at the zoo can be a great experience, for you and you family. But remember, not all the animals will be in view, so arrive early so you have enough time to go back to see animals you missed. Take note of the holiday seasons, they will be busy, a weekday in school term would be best (maybe not for a family outing though). Remember to keep moving, don’t sit there all day waiting for a tiger to get in the possition you want, you could be wasting your time, Last of all remember to have fun.
