Windows Live Writer
This Post is being created as a test, on Windows Live Writer Beta, which is basically supposed to be a user friendly way of posting on your blog, and if you don’t have one you are given the option to create one at the start of the installation.
To start, I use Wordpress for my blogging needs. The Post writer within Wordpress is very good, giving you options to do general text manipulation and also the option to upload pictures. Anything a little more advanced needs to be done in HTML which most people who just want an online presence will not understand totally.
On to Windows Live Writer, so far the experience has relatively painless, the application looks like word, with options listed to the right hand side. Note the following picture was added through the “Insert Map” option which I think may be of interest to some, but possibly a bit of a novelty for others.
As with Word, it also gives you red underlining where you spelling isn’t to be desired.
Next on the list is “Insert Tags”, which are links to a possible selection of sites who index blogs. Quite good if you want to link people to other information, but most will probably not be relevant to what you are talking about.
Now its time to see how this looks once published…….
On Publishing the post, I found the whole process quite easy (other than a little messing around in Live Writer to get the paragraphs looking right), it was published ok with pictures included.
For people just starting out in the world of blogging with no background in computers (companies that like to keep their own news up todate), this would be a very good application to use, but like word would need a little time to get to grips with how it works.
